Why Yourdog Mexican Crested
Rich in buffalo and poultry. Made specially for the Mexican Crested. Contains cranberry, tomato and mango. Supports a healthy, glossy coat. Maintains healthy gut flora. Free from artificial colours, flavourings and fragrances. Also suitable for sensitive Mexican Crested dogsOur ingredients
To make our food, we dry 10.6 kg of meat for a 12 kg bag so that it can be processed better in our dry food. Alongside the right proportion of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog uses meat from free-range, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and its strong colour, and is rich in vitamins and minerals. This tender meat has a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, which makes it very good for health.
Poultry
At Yourdog we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together give the food a delicious taste and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in poultry support good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables
To provide the dog with additional valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Vegetables, for example, are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the gut and can, among other things, support digestion.
Fruit
We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog that provides the dog with all the important natural antioxidants. Fruit can, for example, be good for the dog's immune system, but it can also help keep the breath fresh or maintain a healthy digestive system. These natural ingredients support the dog's health.
Herbs
The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, algae and so on has a tradition going back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food has been carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, certain ingredients are emphasised. Breed-specific complaints can be eased by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.
Vegetables, herbs and fruits specific to the Mexican Hairless Dog
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Mexican Hairless Dog. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Mexican Crested belongs. From these studies, and in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients were selected that have an optimal effect on the health and wellbeing of the Mexican Crested.
Cranberry
The cranberry is a plant from the heath family. In the Netherlands the plant occurs mainly on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the country. It originally comes from North America and is said to have arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.
Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can give a strong boost to dogs' health. Among other things, the berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which keeps the body's fluid balance healthy. These berries are also rich in vitamins A, B and C and in antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes urine more acidic, which makes the environment in the bladder less attractive to bacteria. Adding cranberries can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibre in cranberries has a positive effect on digestion and provides a longer feeling of fullness.
Cranberry is added to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints relating to digestion, skin, joints, bones and nerve function, among others.
Tomato
The tomato belongs to the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, which originally comes from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were grown in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and the Mayas. In 1893 it was decided in America that the fruit should be regarded as a vegetable.
At Yourdog we use the tomato in the culinary sense, so here we treat the tomato as a vegetable.
Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories and high in soluble fibre, which supports digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red colour. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. It not only gives the tomato its red colour but is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown, for example, that lycopene can protect against cancer and help with cardiovascular disease, among other things. In addition, the tomato is rich in vitamin C and in vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.
The tomato is added to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints relating to digestion, skin, eyesight and cardiovascular disease. It can also have a generally cleansing effect on the body.
Mango
The mango belongs to the genus Mangifera and probably originates from north-east India and South-East Asia. It is a stone fruit that comes in various shapes and grows on a tree that can reach up to 40 metres in height.
This delicious summer treat is packed with important vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins A, B6, C and E and is rich in potassium, beta-carotene and alpha-carotene. The mango also contains plenty of healthy fibre, which helps to strengthen the immune system and the digestive organs. The natural antioxidant (vitamin C) helps to support vital bodily functions. Vitamin A is rich in beta-carotene, which can help to maintain and improve eyesight.
We add mango to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to supporting the dog's resilience and healthy digestion. In addition, mango can support dogs' eyesight.

Feeding tips
Body weight (kg) Daily amount (g) 10 - 20 190 - 315 20 - 40 315 - 525 40 - 60 525 - 750Advice on switching
If you are switching from another brand of food to Yourdog, we recommend following the steps below. In a first step, feed 25 % Yourdog and 75 % of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After that you can feed 100% Yourdog. Once opened, food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. It is therefore important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loose into the container, but to place it in the container together with the whole bag, which you close as tightly as possible.
