Why Yourdog Afghan Hound
Rich in buffalo and poultry Made specially for Afghan Hounds Contains marigold, carrot and cranberry Promotes a healthy, glossy coat Supports healthy gut flora Free from artificial colourings, flavourings and fragrances Also suitable for sensitive Afghan HoundsOur ingredients
To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better in our dry food. For Yourdog we use meat from free-range, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour, and is high in vitamins and minerals. This tender meat is lower in cholesterol, fat and calories, which makes it very good for your dog's health.
Poultry
At Yourdog we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together give the food a delicious taste and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in poultry help build good muscle and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables
To give your dog extra valuable nutrients, we have added super-healthy vegetables to our food. Vegetables, for example, are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the gut and can, among other things, support digestion.
Fruit
We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog that provide your dog with all the important natural antioxidants. Fruit can, for example, be good for your dog's immune system, but it can also help keep breath fresh or maintain a healthy digestive system. These natural ingredients support your dog's health.
Herbs
The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, algae and so on has a tradition going back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in your dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food has been carefully chosen for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, different ingredients are emphasised. Breed-specific complaints can be eased by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.
Dog-specific vegetables, herbs and fruits
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Afghan Hound. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Afghan Hound belongs. From these studies, and in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, we selected ingredients that have the best possible effect on the health and wellbeing of the Afghan Hound.
Marigold
The marigold (Calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. The marigold is a cultivated flower that has long been used for its various medicinal properties. The original Calendula species was probably native to Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is hardly ever found in the wild any more. The marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.
There is a lot of information about the positive effects of marigold. We can add Calendula to dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints relating to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes and paws. It is particularly good for restoring the skin and mucous membranes, and has an anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect. It can also help prevent cramps during the digestive process.
The marigold is mainly used as an external care product, for example for grazes or skin problems. Thanks to its regenerative properties, however, it can also be used internally.
Root
The carrot as we know it today, the orange carrot, is the result of many years of crossbreeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century.
Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fibre. Carrots, for example, contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. This is important for building capillaries and for the health of all cells. The fibres in carrots support your dog's digestion. Carrots are also low in calories and good for the coat and skin.
At Yourdog we add carrots to dog food because they can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints relating to your dog's coat and skin. They also help promote good eyesight and healthy digestion.
Cranberry
The cranberry is a plant from the heath family. In the Netherlands the plant occurs mainly on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the country. The plant originally comes from North America and is said to have reached the Netherlands around 1845.
Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can give dogs' health a powerful boost. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which helps maintain a healthy fluid balance in the body. These berries are also rich in vitamins A, B and C, as well as antioxidants that support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the environment in the bladder less attractive to bacteria. Adding cranberries can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibre in cranberries has a positive effect on digestion and keeps your dog feeling full for longer.
Cranberry is added to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints relating to, among other things, digestion, skin, joints, bones and nerve function.

If you are switching to Yourdog from another brand of food, we recommend the following steps. In the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this over two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old food. It is important to let your dog get used to this for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely on Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After that you can feed 100% Yourdog. Food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect shelf life and taste. It is therefore important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or bin in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food into the container on its own, but to put it in together with the whole bag, which you should seal as well as possible.
